December 13 will not only be a party. We made a lot of parties: need to feel good together, counting the familiar faces, lined up a bit 'of fine words, to show their muscles. And to find himself confused and drained the next day.
On 13 December will be a choice. Convinced and demanding. The decision to open this country to the constitutional process, the prudence of avoiding the elites, to embody it in the passion and generosity of those who feel all the urgency of a New Left in Italy.
We shall not here to tell us again how "new" this should be left, we engaged four months later by the assembly of Chianciano, to reason on the legacy that the political cultures of the last century have left us. We said a hundred times that that legacy should not be frozen or refused but reworked, mixed with a different language, enriched with democratic practices finally, finally inclusive. We talked about too many liturgies and the urgency to leave. We understood that this project will fail to add up all the current left (hard to hold together within the Communist who feels, and who celebrates every day the Communist pride ...) but now that the essential political virtue, rather than unity at all costs, is consistent: the ability to use the same alphabet, they share the same research, face the same sea.
The Italian left who will be born on December 13th will be the story of this time and of this country. But it will also be the remedy. A left to do, rather than affirmation. This we said and we said we are a long time. Now we have to give to others the word, let it be this new collection from those who left the manufacturing is already in everyday political practice, work on the territories, within the government, in times of tight one hundred meetings that we have already done.
What will be, and "when" will this new Italian left? And 'what is beginning to decide together in two weeks. I can only tell you what not to be: neither a cultural circle, nor a repertoire of tactics or words reticent. Why is this project taking off, because now become daily bread and electoral challenge in Italy and in Europe, it is very generous. And a little politicism. Exactly the opposite of what happened in April.
