Bruno, the last Italian to Tripoli, which stands guard our dead

by: Fausto Biloslavo

The caretaker of the cemetery where lie 6,500 Italians resisted well to the expulsion of 1970: "And I will not go even now"

Tripoli - The Sheltering Sky with Gaddafi American bombs in the bunker of the colonel, the revolt against the regime are just some of the adventures of Bruno Dalmasso, one of the last Italian Tripoli. At 77 years, with a blue cap and the four stars of Italy's world champion, Dalmasso welcomed us to the cemetery, which is the custodian, which houses the remains of the 6499 nationals. A small oasis in the Libyan capital, where young patriots rest massacred by the Ottomans, princesses of the past and common people from the colonial period to today. In a crypt remains intact the historic plaque in the air marshal "Italo Balbo Quadrumvirate Governor General of Libya." Shot down, officially by mistake, "in the sky Tobruch 06/28/1940," as stated on the white marble.

Dalmasso was born in Bordighera, but loves to remember that he was "conceived in Eritrea 'to colonial times. In East Africa we would stay forever if Mengistu Haile Mariam, had not taken power in a coup. "I knew him well, but it's water under the bridge," said Dalmasso, that it was from the Abyssinian dictator in person has caught a hail of kicks, after being thrown in jail because Eritrean wire and then sent back to Italy. Dalmasso resists in Italy two months and the pain of Africa led him to Libya to head a construction site in Bengum, the antechamber of 'hell in the desert: "The Libyans call it" the place of the wind "and there are still remains a strong Italian in 1913. " One day there comes a young officer at the wheel of a Beetle. "It was Colonel Gaddafi - Libya says the veteran of the-We got to get a chai (tea) in the desert. He was young, jovial, laughing. I think that his country has done a lot. I saw as Libya has grown and developed. " Dalmasso and speaks It is as if the story ran. In 1986, when U.S. President Ronald Reagan ordered the bombing of Qaddafi's reign he lives 600 meters from the Bab Aziza, the fortified citadel of Colonel in the heart of Tripoli. "On 15 April, at two o'clock at night, squadrons came from the sea. The sky was red for the anti-aircraft tracers - Dalmasso remembers - The first bombs burned the house of Abu Nidal (the principal Palestinian terrorist from the 1985 massacre of Fiumicino and other bloody attacks nda). Then came the bunker Gaddafi. "A single bomb, said a ton, has fallen down like a bang followed by a roar and a strong light, like a giant flash in the dark the night. " In those years Dalmasso often goes to the cemetery, half left after the expulsion of the Italians in 1970, to read the tombstones buried by weeds. The place is called Hammangi, which means turkish bath. With his partner Ethiopian Abersah tegu Mari, she begins to revive and categorize countrymen buried in Tripoli and the rest of Libya. The remains of 28 thousand soldiers and Gaddafi did not want, including 5 thousand Eritrean askari who fought on our side, were transferred to the shrine of Bari military overseas

For his efforts he was named Knight Dalmasso of the Republic and even in the days of the revolt left the Italian cemetery: "With the graves helped us the Egyptian laborers, but they fled when the rebellion began, regrets the fellow-On February 17, the consulate has advised us to stay close at home, but nobody expected such an uprising. " Even Dalmasso, like many of the Libyan capital, is angry with the media: "When I heard that they were bombing the center of the capital, I took a shot: I went in the car right where there should have been the massacre, but there was one sign of the intervention plane. It was a lie. " In the days of the revolt in Tripoli, the Libyan friends 'stock' in the cemetery.

His plate has the number 15, the Italians and some rowdy could throw stones. "You are right Mr Maroni: the Americans are out - blurts Dalmasso - If NATO or the United States there is a risk involved another Afghanistan. They have to resolve among Libyans. Basically no one agrees secession, with the gas and oil to the west to the east. " The avalanche danger is real immigration: "There are hundreds of thousands of African immigrants fleeing Libya with the lure of Italy." Dalmasso with a stick between the graves. The remains of the 6499 Italian rest in niches divided by letter of the alphabet with a number engraved on the marble. The number corresponds to the name shown on large transparent plates on the wall. Quaglio Maria, Patanè Bruno, Country Carmela says discovering that the first Italian merchants in this slice of Africa in 1831 were buried. Gaston Land was a patriot anti turkish than twenty years' massacred by the Ottomans June 21, 1908. Earlier, in 1879, Princess De Zenaide Goyzueta, daughter of the Marquis of Toverena died just 10 years, 3 months and 20 days. His father, a Neapolitan nobleman, was consul of King Umberto I of Italy. The mother's name Livia Rimsky-Korsakov, sister of the great Russian composer. Balbo's body was reported at home and buried in Orbetello, but Tripoli is jealously guards the plaque. The last grave is Italian in 2008. On the white marble reads: Anna Buzzi, Milan. From the history of the cemetery italianosalta out an incredible story, that of an Italian Hannibal the cannibal, because it never identified with other fellow cast, which used human flesh in sausages. In the crypt of the chapel is also buried Innocent Halima, a nun who was the first Muslim. The regime has done to raise the Christ of the great iron crocein entrance to the cemetery because it hits the Islamic beliefs.

Dalmasso had the opportunity to leave Libya in revolt in 1400 with the evacuation of other nationals. "I said no. Libya is my country - he explains - I have accepted and respected for 36 years. Does not seem right to abandon the Libyans in time of danger. If the situation precipitated will share their fate. In 77 years I am not afraid of anything. " www.faustobiloslavo.eu

A dictator to eliminate nuclear

by: Paul Visnoviz - zonadifrontiera.or g

can deprive you of everything except the earth.
The earth is the only thing without which you can not do anything.
If you destroy other things you could fix it, but beware of destroying the earth, because then you will lose everything!
(Muammar Gaddafi)

There are balls. I speak of Libya. Everybody says this is a fight for the freedom of the people and information deployed on the left is excited about this flurry of action in defense of a democracy that might be. Obama said "the Libyans are to be protected" and Sarkozy wasted no time and unleashed the jet.

Americans are beginning to launch long-range cruise missiles from ships.
long time since the national and international press has begun to create a vacuum around Gaddafi portraying him as a ferocious and bloodthirsty tyrant. But have you ever seen evidence of these alleged mass murder? No, there are none. Aljazeera has played its cards well. Since the beginning of the protests and clashes first told of massacres, concluding that there were up to 10 thousand victims. They showed us empty holes in the sand, pretending to be mass graves. But no one could control: there were no other journalists in the country.

Later, when I arrived international press had to admit - with some embarrassment - that the dead would have been maybe 400. Maybe. No one has ever even seen them. Colonel's fault that destroyed the graves, burned the bodies, all covered up, he said. Maybe. Now the image of a bloody-Gheddaffi went well and was printed in the collective imagination.

All against Gaddafi, the tyrant. True, no doubt a dictator, but for years he had abandoned the path of terrorism. Lockerbie has been a terrible stain on his resume, but in subsequent years is straight lined and no one has ever even accused of subversive fringe finance. Indeed, Libya has always held out by the winds of fundamentalism.

rais of Libya was a country where there was freedom of religion, there was no gender difference and the girls happily load into the school as well as berber, discriminated against elsewhere. (For "berber" I mean all descendants of indigenous peoples, not necessarily Libya, prior to the Islamisation: Tuareg Garamantes, Bedouins, Kabila, etc.. It is therefore incorrect that the distinction is often made between Berbers and Tuaregs in the newspapers.) Gaddafi has been campaigning for a nomadic people of the desert were not susceptible to the borders in the Sahara, being able to cross it in all its sands without bothering to find out in which country they were.

A dictator who dreamed of direct democracy, the "regime of the masses", the Jamāhīriyya. His book, Green is a mixture of socialism and pan-Arabism with deep Muslim influences. He has always chased the dream of making Africa a continent united and strong, with sometimes questionable methods and outcomes, getting enemies near and far, but certainly not with the concentration camps.

If the Gaddafi regime was so awful and so terrible conditions of the population, is very curious, there are the rest of the world's refugees and immigrants Libyans. Migrants have always come by us from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and even from the Sudan, Eritrea, Senegal, Chad, Niger, etc., but never from Libya. Even now, a war going on, who runs away from Libya are immigrants. Yes, millions of immigrants from Egypt, the Sudan, Chad and even from Bangladesh had come to this country to work. Millions of idiots who were going to get into the hands of a bloodthirsty tyrant.

There are balls, again. And our government has behaved in an unworthy manner, rejecting a policy that, effort, but with success, he had shown at the center of the Mediterranean. We have betrayed a partner which until recently we have sworn friendship, stabbed in the back. We acted like Italy at the usual stuttering, incapable of the courage of an independent foreign policy. The only one who had the courage to stand was Bossi. All the others follow like sheep and applaud the military invasion of a sovereign country, even more demanding tasks.

I do not think a leader barricaded in his bunker, defended by a handful of loyalists. The opposite is true, most of the population is with him, always has been. And others, inside and outside, will follow him now that he's got an external enemy, the hated infidel dog who comes to desecrate the sacred soil of Islam.

I hope the great Western strategists know what they're doing, so why risk Libya split in two, with the danger of the situation fester for a long time to come. No one will to liquidate the Rais, less than a ground attack by American-European-Arab coalition. Certainly will not be those handful of disorganized insurgents to remove the chestnuts from the fire to the West.

But if the situation does not unlock in a short time the Russians might decide to help Gaddafi and this could form an alliance with Alqaeda dall'accerchiamento to exit. If the situation does not resolve in a few days Expect, and unpredictable outcomes in the medium to long term, a resurgence of terrorism.

receive from a reader and commentator on technology issues to publish this article order to contribute to the debate on nuclear power, which of course is open to all

I decided to write this article conscious of exposing myself to public ridicule to make clear the sea of inaccuracies and scientific nonsense that I read in the last days on the nuclear issue. I make a
Abstract: This article is very long because the issue in question requires a more than exhaustive. The fact is that while respecting the right that everyone has to accept or reject a technology such as nuclear, I am convinced it is necessary to correctly inform the consciences of voters back home.
The nuclear debate these days is getting more heated, especially in the beautiful country where, alas, soon we are going to vote for a referendum on nuclear power. And this (I say unfortunately) just behind the tsunami triggered by the facts of emotional Japan.
First we make a point: the nuclear vote against the referendum does not mean to vote against the existing nuclear power plants in the first and second generation (which does not exist in Italy).
vote against the nuclear means vote against the deployment of a technology to exploit the power of 'atom which is based on principles of operation totally different from those implemented in older plants. The old plants would remain in operation, with all the dangers (but are scarce even in this case) resulting therefrom. not make the mistake of thinking that the referendum would remove the central that the French have built around us . You know how many? Many, many, more than you can imagine. Look at the chart at the bottom of this report: http://www.world-nuclear.org/education/uran.htm
The referendum so it goes against the old central and the possible dangers they represent, (ricordatevelo!) but runs counter to the implementation of third-and fourth-generation power plants, built for example for the Auto-off reaction in the event of a nuclear accident.
What does this mean? It means that in the old central (The Japanese for instance), once triggered the nuclear reaction in fissile material, all that man can do is try to "keep it at bay" , suppressing the reaction with various tricks. In the case of 'accident such as Chernobyl, the nuclear core is beyond human control for a variety of reasons (mainly due to errors in the interpretation of the parameters of core cooling) and then the disaster we all know.
The central third or better in the fourth generation are different from the principle of operation. The core is designed with the tendency to switch off. To keep it running requires continuous human intervention . In case of failure or disaster, the unit switches off without any problems and there is no way that can escape supervision. Then it works just the opposite: if the human operator or cooling systems work, then the nuclear reaction takes place. If they lack the proper functioning of any party control that are around the reactor (mechanical or human), the reactor is turned off. No bang, no radioactive cloud, no nuclear holocaust.

If Italy were a serious country, the referendum on nuclear power, given the importance of the topic, would be accompanied by a panel discussion broadcast on unified networks, where experts in the field have the opportunity to respond live without fear of contradiction to the concerns of the more outlandish theories as to the holocaust . Theories as well as being the fault of weird people to find accommodation in the mouth of some of our politicians. say the mouth and not in the head because if you think that Italian politicians are of the moral caliber to actually say what they think, will make the rich illusions . They ride the wave one and only election, in order to pursue its short-term interests in the expense of long-term interests of the whole Italian population. I do not think of having to prove anything in this regard.
An 'other information that eludes most is the nature of "clean" plants of the fourth generation. It means that these new power plants burn more than 90% of the fissile fuel. What else? Means high efficiency, but also means a flood less waste. Indeed ZERO waste. At this point one might say that while burning 90% of nuclear fuel, a 4th generation nuclear power still produces 10% of slag ( http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/articles/spring01/reactors.html ).
True, but waste are different. The waste of the old plants, employing about 10,000 years to lose radioactivity. The waste of the new central clerical only 200 years to become harmless. Two hundred years on a geological scale, but also are a human blink of an eye and their management would be immensely easier of the old wastes.
But there is something else that people are not aware. Those who say NO to the new generation of nuclear power plants on 'emotional wave of preserving the environment for the benefit of their children, do not know that nuclear plants would help 4 ^ enus paradoxically to consume nuclear waste produced by old plants, solving a longstanding problem.
But as I personally am for or against nuclear power? In principle I do not like the system because it relies on the consumption of nonrenewable resources. But since the world does not work on principle but on practical facts, I prefer to be pragmatic. Today nuclear power is the only source of supply of energy capable of meeting the present demands for energy (which continue to grow). And renewables? Great thing, you will come to use those one day but not today. For the simple reason that all put together would not be able to provide even half 's energy demands our lifestyle. careful, I'm talking about available technologies and not on paper prototypes whose implementation is far from 'be immediate.
then analyze them, but making the effort to analyze them in an all-Italian, just because the arguments are, in principle, only smoke.

WIND ENERGY FEASIBILITY 'GEOGRAPHICAL : Italy' s not the Netherlands or Denmark. We certainly windy, but the Italian territory is not suitable in its entirety. The noise of the blades is annoying at night.
FEASIBILITY 'POLICY : the average Italian has a short memory. He has forgotten that the first opposition against the implementation of wind turbines in Italy were in fact the Greens and the leaders of the LAV.
The Greens said that because maintenance requirements of the blades requiring the construction of service roads of concrete in areas maybe included in natural parks (I never understood why they had immediately rejected the idea of them unpaved). Those of LAV because wind turbines actually sometimes slice some pigeon. Always to remember the mentality of 'average Italian, the'
Italy is the country that has decided to oppose the construction the bridge over the Strait of Messina, Sicily, preferring to maintain in a state of decay rather than disturb the phases of '
pair of anchovies.
COST-CAPACITY A ' PRODUCTION: poor, very poor. A shovel large can at best supply of energy to get to a neighborhood.
GREEN FACTOR: high, once produced the blades remain in office, without polluting for a long time

HYDROPOWER FEASIBILITY 'GEOGRAPHICAL : High: Italy is full of rivers and valleys. But to produce all the electricity we need the hydro we fill all our rivers and our valleys of concrete dams. FEASIBILITY
'POLICY: The dam is good as a solution at all, except the inhabitants of the towns nearby. It does not have a point because in the case of structural failure, for example due to an earthquake, flood wave generated by the collapse of the dam would wipe everything and everyone. Remember the tragedy of Vajont? http://www.vajont.net/ COST-CAPACITY 'PRODUCTION : high. Hydroelectric power plants cost a lot but are able to remain in operation for more than one hundred years GREEN FACTOR: the environmental impact of a dam is devastating. Entire valleys are processed, all the surrounding fauna and flora are eliminated.

SOLAR :
FEASIBILITY 'GEOGRAPHICAL : good, especially in central and southern Italy.
Beware, Messina is not the Sahara!
FEASIBILITY 'POLICY : high, so the panels will pay citizens COST PRODUCTION CAPACITY : very little. A solar panel is unable to produce even 100% of 'hot water necessary for a household with 4 people. Nor is it able to produce electricity enough. The concept is great but until the efficiency average of a panel is around 15% conversion of light into energy, the spread will be low, given the costs quite high (despite the incentives, which are taken for a ride, because the money always come from the state our pockets).
GREEN FACTOR: Medium. Once installed last on average only 15-20 years and should be replaced with new panels, whose cost is productive in terms of ecological balance are high.

tidal :
FEASIBILITY 'GEOGRAPHICAL : Nothing, Italy does not have the kind of large tides needed to political feasibility work that technology, but please! In 30 years we have been able to finish installing the MOSE in Venice ...
COST-CAPACITY 'PRODUCTION : good, if we had the tide of New Zealand.
GREEN FACTOR: Medium, maintenance is expensive and would be carried forward with motor vehicles

BIOFUELS:
FEASIBILITY 'GEOGRAPHICAL : good, Italy is a land eminently agricultural FEASIBILITY POLICY: nothing. Our farmers take to the streets to protest the shooting manure milk quotas, let alone what they would do if forced to re-crop.
COST-CAPACITY 'PRODUCTION : no one has yet understood GREEN FACTOR: medium, bio fuels create less pollution, but polluting.

ZERO POINT ENERGY / ENERGY FEASIBILITY OVERRUN 'GEOGRAPHICAL : high, Italy is the perfect country, full of suckers ready to believe the first scientific nonsense.
FEASIBILITY 'POLICY : even higher. Italian politicians to mastellianamente happy while his constituents would be able to allocate public funds for research in this sense, knowing that they are throwing money into the wind.
COST-CAPACITY 'PRODUCTION : nothing. is a hoax. It can not work because with today's technologies we are able to extract large amounts of energy from the zero point (bubbling quantum).
The same scientists also disagree on how much energy we could possibly escape the cosmic void.
GREEN FACTOR: high. Not working hard and does not pollute much. Perfect for some gullible people of my acquaintance.

Also, if we were to build installations that use all these forms of alternative energy we would still be able to support the national energy requirements . But remember this when you go to vote!
To explain the paradox of nuclear power in general I use the comparison with the trains. It is now considered the most efficient and environmentally friendly on the planet. And with good reason. But people forget that before the current drive superefficenti (such as red arrow), the locomotives were diesel. And those were the first locomotives that burn coal and pollute a lot, probably killing most of the atom.
Yet no one in the civilized world today would dream of banning the new generation of locomotives (except in Italy, where Greens prefer to stop the construction of tunnels for high speed, maintaining the status quo of a congested road network by road diesel trucks). Why in the world with nuclear
you can not use the same attitude?

Finally, a question that no one bothers to do more:
which is the social cost of not being independent from the energy point of view? The response we give it its the Japanese entered the war on December 7, 1941 because their oil supplies were running out. Were folded with a nuclear bomb American and yet, they learned their lesson and are endowed immediately NPP, to avoid having to do a 'last war for the provisioning of energy.

One note: the accident of the central Fukushima not a defeat but a victory of nuclear power. The fact is that people tend to forget decontextualise the incident happened on an island that houses a total of 55 nuclear power plants first generation (40 years old) suffered a massive earthquake and tsunami devastated by a ratio of Bible. HOWEVER not yet been any nuclear holocaust. Do I have to give credit to this discussion to 'excellent Oscar Giannino.

course, there is a third way and is that of reducing consumption. Me and my wife has a 'hybrid car. Yet when I drive the hybrid, I can get on roads extrraurbane 3.3 liters per 100 km while my companion did not fall below 6.5 liters per 100 km.
Yet we drive the same car. The difference is that I pay attention to how I drive, she did not.
She is also one that leaves the lamp on his bedside constantly lit, even during the day and while away from home. I'm running around all the time for the whole family off the lights they leave on.
They are all intelligent people in my house but look at me as if I were an alien. The truth is that anyone interested in making today half step back.
Yet it would be enough to put a minimum of attention to reduce our consumption to 40% without having to dramatically change our way of life.
And this is perhaps the most immediate response to all our questions.

The UN arrives late. But well mask the embarrassment

: Marco Bounce - The Compass daily

Late and a whole lot 'botched. Gianandrea Gaiani The analyst defines the decision taken last night by the UN Security Council to establish a "no fly zone" over the skies of Libya in flames. For Gaiani - expert strategy and scholar of the theaters of war, editor of Defence Analysis monthly web, working with various newspapers - the "solution" would then come to games finished. Because if France announces air raid in the next few hours, saying the United States argue that to set up the interdiction of the airspace necessary to Tripoli Libyan forces no less than a week. "But if the" no fly zone "was established in summer now," says Gaiani, "just say ten days ago, things would have been very different."

What?
more credible ...

now are not?
much less. First, the "no fly zone" is likely to be ineffective in practice and in addition, its establishment is only now revealed to be an obvious excuse.

For what?
To cover the enormous embarrassment that the West is trying Muammar Gaddafi in the face: the West can not afford the luxury of pretending nothing with Saddam in recent weeks after treated as the worst criminals in history. If Gaddafi had sfangarla and stay in power, what would the West? Here is the need of an intervention that put him on the ropes.

will actually put it on the ropes?
The establishment of a "no fly zone" is already a formal act of pre-war ...

Then Gaddafi is over ...
Who knows ... But that fact that the "no fly zone" is already pre-war per se disqualification airspace Libyan Libyan aviation is not able to stop the military offensive of Gaddafi. In Bosnia the "no fly zone" did not stop the Serbs from committing acts of genocide, by means of land consumed. In Iraq the same thing happened. The only strategy that could achieve would be to militarily intervene with ground troops, but this is the only explicitly prohibited by the resolution adopted last night ... And anyway, now that the car went away west, may not serve to anything. Gaddafi may arriving in Benghazi, a stronghold of the rebel forces, in a very short time and then - as indeed seems to have already announced - to stop the army, leaving the normalization deal the police. A clever strategy and winning at the time already taken by British troops in Basra, in Iraq, displaced civilians and snack, then track down the armed enemies one by one, house by house. This reduced to a minimum casualties in Iraq and could also take down the number in Benghazi, to the benefit - even in pictures - Gaddafi ...

But, apart from Benghazi, Gaddafi is killing by the week Libyan people ...
Look, local medical sources, that is not the government of Tripoli, but the staff on the front lines in hospitals, about a total, since the riots, about 500 deaths. Which are not few, but which do not constitute "genocide," figures that do not make us more sympathetic Gaddafi, but which do not justify the rend their garments by those Western countries that now - later - crying and incline - more than some of others - for immediate military action ...

you mean France?
France, of course: the country that is pushing for more military intervention. Then But even Britain and the United States, for reasons of course oil. These powers, even France in the lead, hoping to obtain benefits from the regime change, perhaps by removing some of its contracts to Italy. Especially now that they can no longer support the regime in Tripoli, however, considered an ally until yesterday. For if the West - says: NATO - to intervene militarily now pass for the real winner. From there a way to get privileged access to energy sources would be a snap. Moreover, the totally unexpected military efficiency of the rebels being recorded - if the news was confirmed - in Libya could now be thinking of some Western aid already active ongoing albeit covertly. The "no fly zone" and will follow what would become more so just a cover for existing operations.

at what point in all this is Italy?
Italy is linked to Libya by a treaty of friendship. Not a any Libyan government, but the Libyan state as such (although in this case the government has signed the treaty with Rome rather than government, however, is still in office in Tripoli). In itself that treaty Italy would already violating it, on the other hand, Italy is also part of NATO in a non- less restrictive ... But I think, realistically, that in the event of a military operation in NATO air support of Italy will provide supervision to the "no fly zone", using the foundations of Trapani and Sigonella, the most useful in military structures of Lampedusa and Pantelleria. For recovery operations in cases of necessity.

One last question. How do you see the whole scenario of the "bread riots" in the Middle East and North Africa?
clear focus has been on the case of Libya, and rightly so. But this confirms that it is impossible to generalize the situation area of all countries affected by the riots, insurrections, riots. What unites the various "streets" Arabic is the dissatisfaction than non-democratic regimes, the absurd inflation of basic necessities, the asymmetric division (Libya docet ) of the proceeds from the first source of wealth of that community, the oil.
said that, however, each of those countries has contexts, histories, mechanisms, cultures and situations. Unable to flatten everything indistinct. There are bread riots, rebellions against gerontocracy, huge disagreements between Shiites and Sunnis, separatist pressures, and so on. Things often overlap and add up, but this complicates the facilities. The focus is now the Arabian Peninsula. There, Saudi Arabia has decided to scratch his own because no one trusts that the West has downloaded so suddenly that he was a key ally Hosni Mubarak in Egypt. Riyadh is now thinking of itself as the regional gendarme order and shows it factually. And one thing remains true: Unique in September after the only Western strategy in the field that was designed, developed and carried forward the U.S. President George W. Bush jr. and the neoconservatives. And that is the need to enter into a closed world militarily and always devoid of democracy which is Islamic, forcing the doors. A strategy that has its setbacks of the coin, its limits and even his hesitation, but the only fielded first and second, that, however, is bringing some results in Iraq, even in Afghanistan and - locally - in other areas of that world.

Rash Ankle After Gout

Letter to my Dad

of: Sabrina Pietrangeli Paluzzi - The Optimist

"For you is the greatest gift of my life"

Dear Dad,
how to find the words to tell you how much I right? When I was conceived, it was for love. Among the many seeds that were running for gaining the right of primogeniture in the mysterious egg of the mother, I come first. I have greatly desired, I really wanted you as a father.

your touch on the belly of the mother I feel every day, full of love. And how many prayers with your big hand when you knew of my deformity of my imminent death in the womb. How much determination to say "abortion is not talked about either. It is our son, "when the doctors you envisage it. And how much strength you gave to my mother, to accompany me along the way, day after day. How many rosaries shelled, how much trust that God would really give me life, if only he had wanted. What joy when, in spite of dire predictions, my situation changed. Your prayers have been and still remain: "Thank you, Lord, for giving me back my son."
confidence to go forward, although you know very well that I was an Easter egg: apparently wrapped in bright colors and fiocconi pending, but inside I was like ...? I could do things other children?

I'd bring to play football? I'd heard, seen running? Do not you care about: "I love you, my son," was the leitmotif of waiting.
The day of my birth, you were out to pray with your friends. When you saw me in the incubator, your tears have wet the lens of the camera with which you were trying to steal the first moments of life to show her mother and sisters. I had four days when couldst touch me and take me in your arms for the first time.
Dad, you were with me at every step, every surgery. Your messages of hope helped her mother, and enabled it to withstand the seven months of continuous hospitalization and uncertainties.
The first time I crawl, your face has become like that of the children before Santa's Gift Shop Christmas ... and when I walked, you have also cried as his mother.
Dear Dad, now you are unemployed for a year. The uncertainty is so great, yet in the house smiling and joking. At every meal comes your gratitude to God Providence, not to worry, because if I forget to pray, do you remember me.
Today your little boy of 8 years, I am proud to look like much: I have faith in life, I smile and draw lessons from my weaknesses.
The other day you showed me your photo of elementary school ... to make fun of me, and told me: "what are you doing in this picture?". I looked, and I answered: "In this picture there is one identical to me but not me." It was you. Like you very much, my dad, and I am proud, because you for me if the reflection of God's love

climate change. It heats up as well?

to: uprait.org

If you talk about "Climate Change" I believe more than if you're referring to the "Global Warming". The authors of a study examining the websites of "think tank" Americans are surprised by this phenomenon. And it is true, as asserted in the study, the use of words greatly affect opinions. But they do not realize, it seems that in this case the two expressions are very different: that the climate is changing "no rain" that the planet is really warming up so huge is another story. Many citizens, increasingly, are skeptical of the famous "warm", not because of the use of words because when more and more experts will offer more data that suggest that it is not so clear. For ten years the global temperature of the planet earth does not increase.
Indeed, they are the propagators of the heating to have folded in recent years on the mildest change. Go to realize that, after so much tam tam, climate you are not heating up more.

Abstract In public discourse and survey research, global climate change is sometimes referred to as ‘‘global warming’’ and sometimes as ‘‘climate change.’’ An analysis of web sites of conservative and liberal think tanks suggests that conservatives prefer to use the term ‘‘global warming’’ whereas liberals prefer ‘‘climate change.’’ A question wording experiment (N 1⁄4 2267) illustrates the power of these frames: Republi- cans were less likely to endorse that the phenomenon is real when it was referred to as ‘‘global warming’’ (44.0%) rather than ‘‘climate change’’ (60.2%), whereas Democrats were unaffected by question wording (86.9% vs. 86.4%). As a result, the partisan divide on the issue dropped from 42.9 percentage points under a ‘‘global warming’’ frame to 26.2 percentage points under a ‘‘climate change’’ frame. Theoretical and meth- odological implications are discussed.

'Cambiamento climatico' o 'riscaldamento globale'?

In the United States, 60 percent of those who call themselves Republicans believes that climate change is a reality, but only 44 real considers global warming
Many U.S. citizens are skeptical about global warming, but in reality their skepticism varies systematically according to the words that are used to describe the phenomenon. And 'the findings from a survey conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan, who published the results in the journal Public Opinion Quarterly .

Basically more people than you believe in climate change they do not think global warming is occurring: 74 percent of the respondents consider that the real problem is when you refer to talking about climate change, while the percentage drops to 68 when it comes to global warming.

This difference, the researchers note, could result from the different associations of ideas that are stimulated by the two terms. "As global warming brings attention on temperature, climate change focuses on the more general change. Then one day an unusually cold can increase the doubts about the phenomenon of heating up that much to change," says Jonathon Schuldt first petitioner Article

In the study the researchers also analyzed the use of these terms in relation to the political orientation and found that liberals and conservatives had a different attitude towards the two expressions.

First, they analyzed as a series of Web sites that refer to groups of intellectuals and democratic republican area, noting that the first phenomenon is mostly referred to as global warming, while in the latter is spoken in general climate change. When he went to see the statements of political orientation of respondents, they found that the solution to the problem were in close correlation with it.

60 percent of those who said they were Republicans believed that climate change is a reality, but only 44 thought the real global warming. Among those who called themselves Democrats or independent, the phenomenon is of concern to 86 percent of respondents, regardless of the name that is displayed.

Carnival in Rio between Ronaldinho and supermodels

by: Time

The first night of Carnival in Rio was spent sparkling as ever and the samba schools that have seen their floats and costumes to go to their ashes in the great fire 7 February were able to enter into the "sambodromo" Oscar Niemeyer audiences on their feet, with the show recovered nearly one hundred percent. The famous Portela had no need of Ronaldinho, who marched with a suit of white linen and blue for the whole avenue, to animate the audience of 80 000 people throughout the night accompanied the parade: The theme for this 'year dedicated to the sea in Rio de Janeiro has been forgotten with the ocean goddess Jemanjà pirate ships and the fire that destroyed a month ago most of the City of Samba. Supermodel Gisele Bundchen (pictured) was the godmother of the Vila Isabel samba school, playing without the Venus de Milo (she is of Rio Grande do Sul) show a good samba in her dance. Pamela Anderson, traded by the public for a local beauty famous for its silicone breasts, applauded Ronaldinho who has managed to pull two samba schools in a single night, Mangueira and Portela.

record oil prices account for salty Italy

of Philip Caleri - Time

With a barrel of crude oil in the $ 100 bill passed 27 to 34 billion. But Brent has already exceeded 118. Gold and silver never been so expensive.
SALASSA
Full Green empties the pockets of families

Carobenzina The crisis ignited Libyan oil. Flying at prices yet to thrill in 2009 of nearly $ 150 a barrel, but they begin to excite the international economic system. Yesterday, crude oil has exceeded U.S. $ 106, while Brent, the European benchmark, has exceeded $ 118. The industrialized world begins to subdorare return to the economies of the worst disease: stagflation. And that is a combination of low growth and high inflation.

Currently there are only signs of infection. But the world fears the epidemic. Libyan exports to the bloc is not yet complete, the product is missing part is easily replaceable with the overproduction of other producer countries. OPEC, the cartel which brings together key countries that the extract has not yet found it necessary to convene an extraordinary summit. So no alarm. Although the data of world stocks are shaking. If there were a total ban of production, says the CIA in its estimate, the world could, at the current rate of consumption, stand less than three months. Rationing maybe you could extend the life of the system for a few more months. Then modern man should begin his regression to the pre-industrial world. Scenarios of political fiction. Impossible. But the political crisis Shaking Saudi Arabia, which maintains its ground in most of the reserves in the world, some analysts thought the most damage.

Italy in particular is one of the most oil-dependent nations. And the price volatility affects the portfolio without piety of the Italians. The cost of the oil bill can become a lottery. The data are anxious, to be creepy in the worst case. According to the Union Oil in the case of consumption of petroleum products similar to that of 2011 (about 72 million tons), with a range of average prices in the year of $ 100 a barrel and a euro / dollar exchange near the present (1.40), the bill will touch 34.75 billion euro, against 27 in 2010. A share of wealth equal to 2.2% of GDP to leave without returning to the countries producing black gold. It is a reliable estimate. But it is equally true that the price of $ 100 has been largely superseded now days. This means that the final bill could be even more salty. To empty the wallet of the Italians will not only petrol but also all consumer goods. The lists are under pressure for some time. The rising cost of fuel is passed, as voice in the formation of the total cost to the products of the expenditure. So inflation has already raised its head.
A high prices in February rose 2.4% to a value that is not touched for years. With the same amount of money, in short, the bag is not full. Not only that. The crude oil that runs in motion the other raw materials. The strong buying on the shelter good par excellence, gold, have raised the bar of his new record price of $ 1,445.70 in New York and $ 1,444.95 in London. Running also silver, rose to the highest for 31 years ($ 36.5375 per ounce). And so the minerals used in industry such as copper and agricultural materials such as cotton base yesterday at the highest price in history: $ 2.197 per pound. Libya, in short, may be the detonator of a moment of uncertainty that dominates the markets and world economies.

medicine for the moment is likely to be bitter again to consumers. The only recipe to counter the high prices that states have the lever is monetary policy: interest rates. The ECB is going to push the button on a new rise in the cost of money. The market was affected by year-end rate of reference, from 1% arriveraà 1, 75%. A knife for those with variable mortgages rates going to be weighed down in the coming months. The 3-month Euribor, the rate which is taken as a reference index for loans by banks, rose yesterday to 1, from 1 172%, 162%. The Euribor for one month is rose from 0.897% to 0.904%. Rate more expensive even if you turn on mortgages now. So postponing purchases of consumption and depression. Italians are hoping that with my hand on the portfolio in Libya back soon peace.

Code of Honor

to: The Gazette

Mormon university in Utah comes a black guy for dreaming the basketball team. Then disaster: it turns out that making love with his girlfriend and is ejected. The Story of a Puritan without exception

Brigham Young University is not only one of the most efficient machines education of America, with its 30 000 students who turned Provo, 50 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah, one of the best "college town" across the Atlantic. It 'also the institution that provides training for success of the Mormons, with a background of excellence inspired by a rigid puritanism Mormon. Brigham Young, for years, was also a "powerhouse" of university sport, overwhelming passion of the Americans, but then things have got to work less well: it has become increasingly difficult to convince the emerging talents, often young blacks in large cities, to submit to Code of Conduct provided for members at Brigham Young, samples or not.
Then came Brandon Davies, stangone a black born in those parts, that the university persuaded the elders to remain in force to the basketball team at BYU instead of accepting the attractive proposals of the colleges in California. Brandon is part, plays, the team starts to win and in a few months off. The flock of boys blond and Scandinavian surnames become the chorus of raids under the basket of the star black, and the sequence of victories of the Cougars, as they are called, it makes sense: it is a good year to see Brigham Young in the finals, decreed the experts.
A couple of days ago, the disaster. In the same time as BYU to climb to the top of the rankings this season's college basketball, Brandon Davies is accused by the leaders of the university that he had sex with his girlfriend, in contravention of Article 2 of the "code of honor that students of the institution - owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days - undertake to obey live in chastity (the number 1 is "be honest", others advised to not drink, smoke, drink tea and coffee do not talk dirty, go to church, dress decently and in particular to observe that the other students s'attengano the Code - and here it must be scrubbed Brandon, denounced by some pious friend). The blogosphere and sports talk shows are mounted on the news: what the heck, the kid did nothing wrong, nothing that is not consumed millions of times every night in every college in America. Still is to humiliate him, making vain efforts of his companions, to disappoint the fans. Brandon, it soon became contrite: has run apologized, admitted the mistake, muttering as he was sorry and demand more waiting said that yes, next year, instead of going to earn the billions professionals, will remain at Brigham Young to return to the team what they have stolen his hormones (since the Cougars for the first time without him, remedying a Scoppola by Carneades of New Mexico). While some said it was time to launch a revolution in the name of chastity, not Mormon America insisted it will ruin a boy! There is too much hypocrisy in this decision, and taste of the scandal! Nah, I try to answer: the rules are the same for everyone. The standards of behavior expected of students of Brigham Young are high, admit exceptions would be irresponsible and destructive. This is not to decide whether it is right or wrong: is a commitment.
reach the national finals of the tournament university mean cover of gold of the institution. We live on pensions for years, including TV rights and visibility. But by the parties in Provo the ranking of priorities is different and this diversity is nurtured and defended convinced that lifestyle that distinguishes Mormons. For thousands of students each year trying to come to Brigham Young, the existence of this code of honor is an essential. It 's a binary existence. With Brandon being punished not celebrate the victory, but will taste the pride of living and studying according to their intentions. In the presence freedom of choice, hard to blame them.

Surprise left the Democratic Party rejects the advice of iperfiscalisti Scalfari

by: Michele Arnese and Marco Valerio Lo Prete - Il Foglio

Giornaloni, bankers, pm, great writers, all seem to operate on a Democratic Party that is increasingly risk eterodirezione. Now there are also calls Eugenio Scalfari with his economic policy proposals? "I do not think the editorial in Sunday's Republic of falls, at least this time, in what you have the sheet called 'eterodirezione' - says Stefano Fassina, chief economist of the PD - This time in the Republic is in fact an intervention on the merits of an argument, growth, and a concrete proposal. " That is, in the words of Scalfari, "taxing those who have undergone an adequate assessment, from today until the tax reform will be launched, with the proceeds and more growth", a proposal that the opposition parties should present in Parliament, called the founder of the Republic.

The PD is in agreement? "The attention to the file growth is essential, and this government has ignored the issue. A process of reducing the public debt can only be done if the growth potential increases. But I do not agree with the proposed Scalfari - Added Fassina - I find it both unfair and ineffective if the goal is to feed development. " Unjust because as it was for the Euro-tax, which is based Scalfari openly, "this extraordinary tax will only hit the middle classes, or particular employees, and ultimately those who already pay all the taxes." Not only that, according to the comparison with the Euro-tax Fassina of the 90 holds only up to a point: "This time we are sure that there would be the effect of depression, while it is not clear what could be the driving force behind the next." The Democratic Party does not therefore present this proposal in parliament, as advocated by the founder of Republic, "Rather than continue to battle on our proposals. Three points of interest that with the Government since June 2008: structural reforms, restructuring of public administration reform and ultimately tax revenue unchanged, increasing evasion, and redistributing the load of work and enterprise investment income. "

Even the former Finance Minister, Vincenzo Visco unconvincing suggestions Scalfari. It 's true, then, that a Visco Fassina, via Pier Luigi Bersani, the leaders of the Democratic Party have abandoned the idea of any asset, given that some months ago in a report Nens, the center studies Bersani, Visco and Fassina, suggesting just a sheet and a tax on large fortunes as the French. "Rather than thinking of taxing in order to grow, I think it should first be aware of the factors for which Italy is growing short and the danger of an economic policy that property as desired by Giulio Tremonti that supports and arranges capitalists and liberals who hate the rules, "Visco says the paper.

also by another mind economic relief to come councils of the Democratic Party: "The proposed Scalfari does not convince me - explains Sheet Senator of the Democratic Party, Enrico Morando - in my opinion a correct economic policy, in view of disruptive decisions of the European Council later this month, should follow three guidelines. First, strict rules on the expenditure side, including a spending review as one that is having success in Germany and England. Then you have to think about forms of divestiture of public assets, which according to the latest estimates has a value of € 550 billion, to reduce the stock of government debt. And only in the third measure, having taken the other two roads, one can think of a levy for three years 1, 5 per cent on the value of private assets held by 10 per cent of Italians who own 50 per percent of all private assets overall. Those bacteria in meteorites "forms of life from space?"

d i: LOUIS BIGNAMI - The Republic

NASA researchers discovered fossils extremely small precipitates on remote areas of the planet. Some resemble terrestrial life forms, others are "aliens". Great caution in the scientific community for a potentially explosive discovery .

Quei batteri nei meteoriti "Forme di vita dallo spazio?"

S ono long and filamentous. So appear the first (or maybe the second) aliens landed on Earth. A researcher at NASA in fact, claims to have discovered a fossilized alien form of life came from outer space that can explain, among other things, like life itself has arrived on Earth. His discovery was published in the scientific journal Journal of Cosmology. Despite the certainty of discovery, the result of years of research, the researcher Richard Hoover, an astrobiologist who works for the Marshall Space Flight Center of NASA, asked researchers from around the world to check whether its tests may somehow be incorrect.

The extraordinary success of Hoover comes after ten years of studies on fossils of extremely small bacteria killed in remote areas around the planet. Hoover in fact, has turned from Antarctica, and Siberia to Alaska to try the ice extremely rare form of meteorites called carbonaceous chondrites CI1, of which there are currently only ten samples.
Some of the fossils brought to light that resemble bacteria on Earth are called Velox Titanospirillum. "This discovery tells us that life in the Universe is far more widespread than we think," said Hoover, who continued: "Looking meteorites under the microscope I found various types of fossils of different bacteria, some of which resemble terrestrial bacteria, others are, are completely unknown, real aliens. "
If so assume the great value ' hypothesis of panspermia, ie the thesis that wants that life arrived on the planets, including Earth, from space and is not a unique phenomenon of our planet. "An important element-the researcher said, is the fact that many Bacteria are recognized and can be compared with terrestrial species. This ties the life of our planet from space with the flow ".
The discovery in itself extremely interesting Hovver would have identified the bacteria that do not have nitrogen.

Some researchers, like Seth Shostak, an astronomer at the SETI Institute (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), said it was really hard to believe such a discovery. "If what Hoover claims were true, the implications would be far-reaching in the entire field of science and astronomy," said Shostak. Now the search for Hoover will be subjected to independent tests are confirmed and if we can be certain that the aliens are really fallen on Earth.

should be noted that this discovery is matched by that of the origin of Martian meteorite known as ALH84001 found in Antarctica, from Allan Hills, the place where it was discovered in December 1984 by Roberta Score. In 1996, David McKay of NASA claimed to have found traces of life inside. In fact, in its folds, structures were found in the chain of probable biological origin. With a diameter between 20 and 100 nanometers, their sizes were similar to those of some terrestrial nanobacteria. The discovery has been disputed, but when the biological explanation is the one that prevails.

Gaddafi challenge the reality: "Revolt of guilt Media

to: Free

The Rais accused the Western media have exaggerated the protests: "Come and see for yourself." Excluding the mediation of Hugo Chavez.
The rebellion in Libya? Blame the Western media. To say it is the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. After yesterday underlined its key role to democracies against Islamic fundamentalism, in an interview broadcaster France 24 spares no criticism of the press. "To my friends and tell the world that has been given a distorted picture of peaceful demonstrations. Many TV manipulated the reality," he attacked. "We must not exaggerate the facts as there was a big problem. We opened the doors to foreign journalists, we invite the world to open their eyes."

FOREIGN RELATIONS - The Colonel also spoke of the strange relationship between Libya to the West: "It is strange, our relations were good. Libya," he continued, "had relations very good with the United States, the European Union and African countries. They play a crucial role for peace in the world and the region, "claimed the Rais. "We are also major oil groups of English and French, and suddenly these countries have forgotten their interests." Long brown robe and headdress, in the interview video of the France 24 leder Libyan finally denied any role of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in the resolution crisis. "This mediation does not exist for now. There are no problems: what we need is to get rid of these armed gangs."

FIGHTING - Meanwhile, violence continues in Libya. At least seven dead and fifty wounded is the toll of the fighting of the last hours in the Libyan coastal town of Ben Jawad, where forces have fought rebels and pro-Gaddafi. The Colonel does not loosen the grip of. To address the emergency, he returned to the dance option no-fly zone. France has made it known that the Arab League would be supporting the idea of imposing an exclusion zone to fly on Libya, so as to prevent the forces of Muammar Gaddafi of hitting the rebels.

ITALIAN AID - Meanwhile, Italy is continuing its humanitarian operations. The ship ' Libra', which carries 25 tons of aid cooperation, came this morning in the port of Benghazi. The Navy patrol boat, left the port of Catania, port 25 tons of material aid and development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On board, as well as four electric generators were loaded family tents, 4,000 blankets, water purification unit and 40 medical kits for general illnesses. The patrol also transports water, with two tanks, respectively by 3,500 and 7,500 liters, and food donated by the co-operation: 5 tons of rice and 5 tons of milk.
FRATTINI - aiutu Regarding the military, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has been more hesitant. E '"very difficult" to think the idea of Italian military aircraft involved in the Libyan land, but "our Euro-Atlantic loyalty makes us say that we could not deny the use of military bases. The first thing to do," he said Frattini is to be aware that this tragedy before us can not be stopped tomorrow, if not at war. And the war is not a video game, war is a serious matter. " Frattini also said that Italy has already given the green light to the so-called 'contingency plan', a NATO plan that examines all options in a no-fly zone.
